About Yader Peréz

Yader Perez born in Bogotá (Colombia) in 1974, graduated with a Master's degree in Fine Arts (Photography, Human Figure, Art History) from the National University of Colombia.

After spending 10 years of his life as an art lecturer at various institutions in Bogotá, he decided to dedicate himself into the art world. As an artist, he works with a palette knife and his predominant colours are mainly black, white and red. He takes inspiration from medieval philosophers like Winkelmann, Diderot and Madame Lambert. His philosophy when painting is that an artwork should be authentic, aesthetically pleasing and the subject matter should express emotion, sentiment and softness. Perez has done numerous exhibitions in Bogotá (Colombia) as well as many works in public spaces. A huge amount of his work has been on women, as he views them as the most sublime and majestic. He claims he never looks for a perfect image or scene: he would rather capture exactly what he see's and portrays it exactly as that in his work indicating authenticity rather than adopting an over-romanticized perspective. As a result of his true to life artistic style women and occasionally landscapes are his artistic source.
