About Tunku Khalsom

Tunku Khalsom is an internationally recognized artist of British and Malaysian descent, living in Singapore for over ten years. A graduate in Interior Architecture, she has shifted her focus to vibrant abstract art, celebrating fluidity and color while delving into themes of life, love, and transformation.
As a self-taught artist, Khalsom’s mantra, "always changing, always growing," is evident in her dynamic use of inks that reflect movement. Her bright, bold colours evoke emotions and shift perspectives, breathing life into each piece. Recurring motifs such as skulls and butterflies symbolize her exploration of beauty within contrast and imperfection. "I aim to showcase that something damaged can also be beautiful," she explains. Her work embodies the continuous evolution of life, capturing moments of joy and sorrow alike.

"My work is themed around contrast and change. I look to create something that's both beautiful and 'ugly' using bold contrasting colours, shimmers and hues alongside rough, cracked, abrasive textures."

Khalsom's art has been exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in Singapore and is held in private collections across Singapore, Malaysia, London, the USA, Brunei, Australia, and Greece.
