Year of birth: 1989Javier Andrés is a Mexican postmodern pop artist, painter, and muralist whose work offers a vibrant reinterpretation of contemporary visual culture. Raised in a family of painters, he developed an early connection to art, drawing inspiration from comics, cartoons, and television - elements that continue to shape his visual language today.
He began studying Architecture at Tecnológico de Monterrey (CCM) in 2010, alongside Art History, before fully dedicating himself to painting in 2014. Since then, he has established himself as a leading voice of his generation within the Mexican pop art scene.
Influenced by figures such as Roy Lichtenstein, Jack Kirby, and Frank Miller, Andrés has developed a distinctive practice that blends bold color, graphic composition, and layered imagery. His work explores themes of consumerism, media culture, advertising, and the collective visual memory of the 21st century.
His artistic production is structured through several ongoing series—including Retropop, Pop MX, Pop Life, In Money We Trust, Covid Times, and Crómatica Fragmentada—through which he examines the contradictions of contemporary urban life and image-saturated societies.
Today, his works are held in private collections and presented in galleries across Mexico and internationally. In parallel, he collaborates with brands and institutions on design projects and has been featured in publications such as Cultura Colectiva, Time Out, Reforma, Revista Proceso, and E! Entertainment.
