Carla Talopp France, b. 1981
A multidisciplinary artist, Carla Talopp finds the expression of her creative force in nature. Her canvases, monumental in scale and imbued with a profound attention to the living world, appear as metaphors for an inner vitality that is constantly in motion and renewing itself. Punctuated by the consistent use of vibrant colours and the precision of their composition, her works bear witness to the inexhaustible richness of the plant world, which the artist explores in its every movement. Talopp’s canvases, both abstract and figurative, are imbued with the identity of the various creative spaces she inhabits. The colours, used almost symbolically, highlight the uniqueness of a place and its environment, just as the choice of format testifies to the singular immensity of the living world. Devoting her entire being—both physical and emotional—to the creative process, Talopp's works invite us to plunge into a vertiginous dreamlike universe where dream and reality intertwine.
Following in the footsteps of Sonia Delaunay, Kiki Smith, and Sheila Hicks, whose work has pushed the boundaries between art and craft, her practice also extends into the fields of drawing and ceramics, which she uses to explore the creative gesture as a multisensory experience and a sensitive expression of the relationships between humanity and the rest of the living world.
Carla Talopp studied at ESAG Penninghen in Paris, France, before pursuing a Master’s Program in Printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), USA. Her education has also included training in Art Therapy and Arts Mediation at INECAT in Paris through AFDAS and natural dyeing at Colore ton Monde in Sceaux, France.
Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in public institutions in France and abroad, including the China Academy of Art in China and the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., USA. She regularly participates in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and cultural institutions, including Joanne Artman Gallery (New York/Laguna Beach, USA), Larock Granoff Gallery, Baudoin Lebon Gallery and Planète Rouge Gallery in Paris, France, as well as the Postal Museum in Paris.
Her most recent solo exhibition, Under the Skin of the World, was presented at Kapla II, Bois-le-Roi Cultural Center, France, in 2025. In the same year, she participated in the group exhibition Memory of Time at Six Elzevir, Paris, France.
