Javier Caraballo Colombia, b. 1985

Javier Caraballo is a Colombian artist from Barranquilla whose work draws inspiration from the stages of children's artistic development. He incorporates elements from scribbling, schematic, and realistic phases, referring to these early spontaneous marks as "naive stains," which form the foundation of his visual language.

Caraballo blends these childlike gestures with references to modern and contemporary art, including picasso, miró, kaws, and murakami. by superimposing children's marks onto these works, he transforms familiar images into new compositions that highlight innocence, spontaneity, and playful reinterpretation.

With a master's degree in fine arts from the Universidad del Atlántico, Caraballo has exhibited widely across Latin America, the U.S., and Europe.

His work is included in prominent private collections, including those of the prime minister of Luxembourg and the royal family of Monaco, reflecting his international recognition in contemporary art.
