About Ane Alfeiran Corral
Ane, a self -taught artist was born and raised in México City (Ciudad de México). She currently lives and works in Hong Kong. At a young age she found an escape within art and a forum to express her inner feelings. Someone who continues to draw inspiration from the different cities and cultures she encounters. Each painting she creates has a unique story behind it and she has mastered the art of taking the viewer into an emotional journey. Through a deep personal connection present in her compositions, she aims to stimulate the viewer's feelings and imagination and encourage them to create their own personal interpretation.
Ane’s compositions are primarily based on an innate and instinctive foundation, exploring striking colours, trajectory line movement and the bold, raw depiction of facial feature's. She draws on numerous sources for inspiration; emotions, experiences, dreams, graffiti and music. She interweaves these ideas into a bold movement of abstract expressionism and a stark contemporary form of primitivism.
Ane’s most recent series of works demonstrate her inter-tangible technique of bringing both painting and drawing together into abstraction and representation. Her semi-figurative elements combined with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colours and bold texture create an instantly magnetic visual experience for the viewer. Her new collection explores the concept of humans becoming “slaves to technology” an increasingly important issue that addresses the constant pressure of always being on, plugged in, stimulated and in a constant state of self-presentation. She addresses the perplex circumstances of living in a fast-paced modern society, where face-to-face interaction is less and less frequent. We live in and through our screens, and we are always plugged in, always distracted and living virtual lives through social media.
