About Javier Andrés

Javier Andrés, is considered a post-modern pop artist, a Mexican painter and pop art muralist, Andrés was born in Mexico City to a family of successful artists, where, at a young age, he developed his creativity and love for art.

In 2010 he began his career in architecture at the the Tecnología De Monterrey (CCM), where he also majored in Art History. Always feeling a great need to express himself through his bold distinctive painting style. By 2014 Andrés took the decision to fully dedicate himself to art and pursue a career that fulfilled his passion. His unmistakably bold and dynamic pop art style has led to him being one of the leading contemporary pop artists within the Mexican art scene. He successfully collaborated with a variety of different brands and organizations, such as Hublot, White Tiger, black Jaguar foundation, 500 startups, Tokidoki, L’Occitane, W Hotel, Animal Karma, Clip Mexico and West Elm.

Andrés main form of inspiration comes from pop culture that surrounds him but he is inspired by global trends and styles. Ever since Andrés was a child he was drawing comic book figures and restyling them with different interpretations and creating a library of inspirational ideas. His current collection of works are unique and fiercly bold. His instantly recognizable style and vibrant colour palette has enabled him to create daringly unique paintings for collectors who are intrigued by Andrés iconic images that fundamentally give us a snap shot of a piece of time he witnessed and felt a connection to.

His work focuses on informing his viewers on the influence that the media has on the industrial society we live in; manipulating the images we see, the comments we hear and hang onto, the fashion we follow, the food we eat and even the art we are socialized into showing an interest in. His works portray iconic images from the world of advertising, entertainment and politics; reflecting a society obsessed with consumerism and the desire it generates, leading to the question, does television imitate reality or vice versa?

In 2018 Andrés presented “Pop Max”, a new collection inspired by Mexican pop culture. During this time, he created a series of paintings from which he rescued icons of the Mexican golden cinema age and popular culture, in order to generate a strong Mexican identity within his work.

Javier Andrés has created quite a stir in the Mexican pop art world, where he had numerous sell out exhibitions with some of the leading galleries in México. He has also received important media coverage in magazines such as “Cultura Colectiva”, Time out, periodico Reforma, Red Carpet, Estilo DF, Laphille Madrid and Coolhunter.
