Angelina Li Hong Kong
Angelina Li is a Hong Kong-based multidisciplinary artist and educator specializing in abstract oil painting, ceramics and sculpture, known for using organic textures, natural minerals, and sand to explore the connection between humans and nature. She studied at Norwich University of the Arts and Studio Escalier in Paris, grounding her practice in classical techniques before developing her own visual language.
Li’s work merges traditional craft with direct engagement with natural elements, especially water. She often paints both in the studio and underwater, allowing buoyancy, resistance, and the ocean’s subtle currents to shape gesture, texture, and form. Her recent projects, including Breathe and (Not So) Silent Water, translate marine life, submerged landscapes and oceanic structures into poetic compositions in painting and ceramics, exploring the interplay between solidity and fluidity, surface and depth.
Alongside her studio practice, Li teaches and leads immersive workshops at The Living Light Art Studio that connect creative practice with the ocean, fostering awareness, care and respect for marine environments. Her work invites viewers to slow down, perceive subtle rhythms, and reflect on the interconnectedness of humans and the natural world.
